Autobiographical book tells the story of the great Queen of Reggae!
No Woman no cry, My life with Bob Marley, is the title of the book that tells the life of a surprising woman, married to one of the best-known and loved artists of all time. Arriving to live in the Trench Town slum, in the Jamaican capital, Rita Marley describes in 236 pages, his life alongside Bob Marley. She came into contact with music very early due to her talent, and very early on, she became a single mother. Soon, life presented the man who would help her raise her daughter, and who would later give her a real litter of them. This man was Robbie - Bob Marley - so called at the time. Rita tells the story of the beginning of the Wailing Wailers, made up of Robbie, Peter and Bunny and their partnership with the Soulettes, a group of which Rita was a member at the time. The abrupt phase of Rita Marley's life was marked by poverty and discrimination as he became a Rasta. Raised by a very strict aunt, this was essential for her education and for her life alongside Bob Marley. For a long time, Rita took care of the family while Marley was on tour with the Wailers. She always worked hard to spread Marley's songs throughout Jamaica and raise her children in the best way, and at the age of 26, she already had her first four children. The desire and fulfillment of being in the world of music made her, a member of the Soulettes, the leader of I-Three, the vocal trio of the Wailers. The emotional struggle was the biggest of all. The attack, reprisals carried out by the political parties of the time... it wasn't easy being Mrs. Marley! Rita and Bob never separated, despite him having affairs with other women publicly, and sometimes not showing up at home for months.
With everything, Rita raised the children that Bob Marley had outside of marriage and stayed by their side until the end. After the king's death, she suffered a lot in insisting on propagating his work, but as a great warrior, she received hundreds of awards and honors in his name, founded Melody Makers' career, and today takes care of the Bob Marley Foundation. This spectacular and revealing work is worth checking out! Rita was and will always be the Mother and Queen of Reggae worldwide, being the safe haven and pedestal of the Bob Marley star.
