The Jamaican Maritime Travel Council has a project to honor great icons of the island who contributed to its historical/economic/cultural development. The main avenue of Ocho Rios may come to be called "Bob Marley Boulevard", in honor of the idol who took the Island's name to the most remote places on the planet, causing the country to develop an enormous tourist potential.
Another great tribute may be made to the "Prophet" Marcus Garvey, who created perhaps one of the greatest foundations for the Rastafari religion - "A Black King would be crowned in Africa and this man would lead blacks throughout the world to redemption".
For these and other contributions to the Jamaican historical/cultural heritage, the main avenue of St. Ann's Bay (the place where the star Burning Spear was born, among other Reggae greats) may be renamed to "Marcus Garvey Street". The justification given by the council is that there is no tribute to these two great men in the locality of St. Ann's.
