Maskavo and Mosaico perform benefit shows at Açaí Praia!
Last Wednesday, March 16, a benefit show featuring the bands MOSAICO (SP) and MASKAVO (DF) took place at Açaí Praia, raising R$ 2,500.00 that will be used by the Buddhist institution Dharma, located in Cotia - SP. In addition to its commitments to "Buddhism", the Dharma institution has a strong commitment to the needy local community in the region. This was yet another show where the unity among national reggae bands could be observed even more clearly, doing what is called "Reggae do Bem", literally helping one's neighbor. The Brasília band MASKAVO, now with new keyboardist Felipe, took the opportunity to play their best-known hits such as "Quero Ver", "Um Anjo do Céu", "Asas", "Folhas Secas", among others, and showed the audience songs from their most recent CD, "O som que vem da luz do Sol". MASKAVO's new CD is now distributed by Unimar and belongs to the Deja Records label, and can be found in any store in Brazil, including major department stores, supermarkets and stores that have their websites on the internet such as Saraiva.com, Americanas.com, etc. The MOSAICO band from the southern region of the Paulista capital also took the opportunity to celebrate the mark of more than 1,000 original copies of their CD, an expressive figure considering that the band is 100% independent and does not have a strong distribution scheme. The CD had been released in early August 2004 and, to this day, enjoys great acceptance. The band also introduced the audience to their newest member, backing vocalist Flavinha. At only 17 years old, she already faced her first show with a packed house and did very well thanks to her poise and stage presence. Illustrious presences such as Fernandinho (Planta e Raiz), Marcello Mira and Dino Verdade (Alma Djem), Bruno (To Fly) and members of the bands Salvação and Adão Negro were mixed among the more than 700 people who attended the benefit event. MOSAICO rocked with working songs such as "Gotas Coloridas", "Olhar Cintilante", "Namoro de Rede" and "Descendo a Serra". They also played two covers of great hits such as "Roots Rock Reggae" by Bob Marley and "Me Namora" by Edu Ribeiro & Cativeiro. The two bands that strongly work "reggae that exalts love" sold several of their CDs at much lower prices to the audience present, and at the end they held a super Jam Session, where Robson Nery, vocalist of MOSAICO, took the stage at the invitation of band MASKAVO. Together they played "Jamming" by Bob Marley and closed the show with the hit "Maskaviano": "Um Anjo do Céu". A show truly destined to go down in history, since MOSAICO, since recording their 1st CD in 2003, received good help from band MASKAVO co-producing the CD "Mosaico", and partnering on 3 songs out of a total of 11 unreleased tracks, however, only now in early 2005 were they finally able to share the stage performing two beautiful shows.
