Success at 1st Raízes e Cultura! The Wailers and Natiruts deliver an unforgettable night at Credicard Hall!
The Zeroneutro has been providing historic moments for true reggae lovers. Mad Professor, U-Roy, that is, only icons "in the crosshairs", and now it couldn't be any different. On May 19th, Credicard Hall was packed to see the performances of Echo Sound System, Natiruts and the legendary Wailers. The vicinity of Credicard was occupied by regueiros who, now quite rightly, wore Bob Marley t-shirts, flags, caps, accessories, etc. Despite all the mystique of Wailers, the band Natiruts receives all the notoriety of the spotlight on an equal footing, especially because DVD, one of the best sellers in Brazil, is promoting the band's work with much more force. To open the night, the people from Echo Sound System dominated the pick-ups to send out the most classic riddims in history and "toast" the room with lots of ragga and attitude lyrics. Mc’s Funk Buia from Z’África Brasil and, with recently released CDs, Jimmy Luv and Arcanjo, sing over the heavy and imposing foundations of reggae. The initiative to heat up the party with ragga, dub, and other aspects of Jamaican rhythm, comes from Natidub, a true party that strengthened the ties between fans of Natiruts and the psychedelic profile of DUB or the acidic attitude of ragga. After the performance of "Echo Sound", the crowd's expectations were exactly the same for the next two bands, and when the lights went out, the chorus was one: "Natiruts, Natiruts, Natiruts"!

NATIRUTS

When the curtain opens, Alexandre limps out, and he did the entire show sitting down. Humorously, he said he had a "little knee problem" due to football. "Quero Ser Feliz Também" opens the presentation and Credicard Hall suffers its "first shocks". The reception at Natiruts's shows is always contagious and uninterrupted, and the band from Brasilia still has a collection of hits that would make many artists envious with years of consolidation. The performance was a true journey through time, where they explored their own history with songs like "O Carcará e a Rosa" and the recent "Natiruts Reggae Power". Although there was still a performance by Wailers, Natiruts's show lasted a long time, and despite the absence of some songs like "Surfista do Lago Paranoá", other hits like "Andei Só", "Deixa o Menino Jogar", "Eu e Ela" and "Meu Reggae é Roots" were on the set. In the middle of the show, Alexandre drives people even more crazy by singing "A Estrada" by Cidade Negra. MC Funk Buia also participated in one of the songs and even Jimi Hendrix was remembered with "Purple Haze". On the way back "Não Chore meu Amor" shakes the premises and Natiruts says goodbye with another fantastic performance. Early tomorrow the band leaves for Rio de Janeiro to record Faustão and then returns to São Paulo for Credicard Hall, where they perform the second and last day of 1st Raízes e Cultura!

THE WAILERS

At approximately 1:30 in the morning, the audience's hearts pounded... Wailers took over the stage and magic took over the house. What can you say when you have one of the most important names in the history of the world reggae in front of you? Do you want to know? Cry with emotion! "Waiting in Vain" and "Is This Love" are played in sequence and even that serious look on the security guards' face is rendered by the "positive vibrations", and of course, in addition to being performed with mastery. The band's competence is so great that comparisons include the wizard Lee Perry's Upsetters, Alpha Blondy's Solar System and Israel Vibration's heavy Roots Radics. The advantage of Wailers is that none of them had one of the most eternal and important names of reggae, the immortal Bob Marley. "Stir it Up", "Lively Up Yourself", "Them belly full", "Trenchtown Rock"... all in a relentless sequence! "Kink Reggae" and "Concret Jungle" preceded the beautiful "No Woman no Cry". Simply chilling. Soon after, "Three Little Birds", also famous for its version of Gilberto Gil, caused thousands of voices to sing the chorus: "Don’t worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing is gonna be all right"!The ticket was more than well paid, that was clear on anyone's face, but Wailers still had a final sequence to make those who couldn't go to the show on Sunday sad. Firstly "Redemption Song", which in addition to mobilizing the "Credicard choir" again, also colored the space with cell phone lights and lighters, and soon after "One Love" and "Soul Rebel". Despite the absence of more "B-side" sounds like "Rat Race", "Stop That Train" or "Buffalo Soldier", the show itself was performed perfectly! Now Sunday, May 20th, is the last day of Raízes & Cultura, which will once again feature "Echo", Natiruts and The Wailers. Unmissable! The Surforeggae team thanks Julio and Branca for their professionalism and Zeroneutro for putting another legend before our eyes.
