Alpha Blondy, one of the biggest names in African Reggae, held the peace concert in his country on December 30, 2007 - Costa do Marfim. This was the first show after the attempted government coup in 2002, which divided the country creating a climate of war. The event was held in Grand Bassam (including the name of one of their albums - "Grand Bassam Zion Rock"), a city that was the capital of Costa do Marfim during the time when it was a French Colony. Alpha also reinforced the need to hold elections in the country in 2008. Alpha, which had promised to release its new album only when the conflict ended, fulfilled this with "Jah Victory", which came out in 2007, after the establishment of the peace agreement. The album even has a song called "Bahia", where the artist shows all his love for Brazil, especially for the state of Bahia.
