Skatalites, one of the biggest musical groups in the world, already has a confirmed presence in Brazil in 2008. The band that started with Tommy McCook, Rolando Alphonso, Johnny Moore, Lester Sterling, Don Drummond, Lloyd Knibb, Lloyd Brevett, Jerry Haynes and Jackie Mittoo made and continue to make history wherever they go.
Since the first album, which was recorded at Studio One in the Jamaican capital, many changes have occurred in the band. With all the setbacks of its difficult history, having already lost several of its original members, the Skatalites are considered one of the most brilliant groups to ever emerge from a "third world" country.
The group's last tour in South America was in 2007, more precisely in May, where Team Surforeggae had the pleasure of meeting them in Buenos Aires, in Argentina where they shared the stage with Alpha Blondy & The Solar System and Los Cafres. In São Paulo the performances were sold out at SESC Pompéia, which left the door open for a return.
Four dates have already been confirmed in Brazil and Argentina. Interestingly, in the "hermano" country, Ska in some places is even more popular than traditional Reggae itself, which can be proven by the existence of several Ska groups such as Dancing Mood and Manchesta.
