One of the greatest Jamaican instrumentalists of all time - Dwight Pinkney (or Pickney as he is also known), who has been a member of groups such as Zap Pow, Morwells and Roots Radics, will record a 13-track album in tribute to Bob Marley. Dwight, who had the opportunity to participate in several recording sessions with the Wailers at the famous Studio One, handpicked 12 tracks by Marley and another of his own compositions for the album that will soon be released on his own label"Abeng International Records"in partnership with VP Records.
Dwight is one of Jamaica's greatest guitarists, considered a virtuoso, being able to reproduce entire melodies of song lyrics on the guitar. Pinkney formed the acclaimed band Roots Radics alongside Errol"Flabba"Holt, Lincoln"Style"Scott and Eric"Bingy Bunny"Lamont, musicians with whom he played for several years in his own career and alongside hundreds of artists such as Israel Vibration, Gregory Isaacs and John Holt.
The artist declared to Surforeggae that he is a great admirer of Brazilian music, having even included MPB and Bossa Nova classics in his repertoire throughout his career. For the Bob Marley Tribute CD, songs such as"One Love","Jammin","Three Little Birds","Nice Time","Let Him Go","Put It On","Simmer Down","Screwface","Trench Town Rock","No Woman No Cry","Waiting In Vain"and"Redemption Song"were chosen.
