Bob Marley's political legacy is the subject of the documentary "Africa Unite"! See it on Surforeggae!

Produced by the Marley family, the documentary "Africa Unite" (2008), directed by Stephanie Black, addresses the political legacy of reggae's most popular name, Bob Marley (1945 - 1981). In 2005, the Marley family traveled to Ethiopia to perform for the union of African countries. The presentation included Marley's wife, Rita, her mother, Cedella Booker, her children and Lauryn Hill, one of them's wife, Rohan. The event is a starting point for "Africa Unite" which, among good shots of the presentation, shows meetings of representatives of the Unicef (United Nations Children's Fund) to discuss the union of countries in Africa, a theme addressed by Jamaican in music homonymous to the documentary. Danny Glover, Unicef actor and ambassador, is a character and producer of the film. "Africa Unite" also addresses the trajectory of the legendary emperor of Ethiopia Hailé Sellasié I (1882 - 1975), who worked in the formation of Organização de Unidade Africana (OUA) in 1963. By means of archive images and interviews with his granddaughter, it is possible to understand the connection between his ideals and those of Marley. The story of the Jamaican singer, however, is little revealed. The film features images of documentary value as a show by Marley in 1980 at the Zimbábue independence ceremony, but does not go into the merit of problems faced throughout his life or even details his career.
