This May 8, 2009 will go down in the history of national reggae, and for several reasons. Of those around the Natiruts, everyone already knows, a true phenomenon of public, success and charisma. For those who have any questions, just go to a show anywhere on Brasil. But the reason we have to praise is the vision of the band and its production, and especially the desire to always innovate and surprise.
Speaking of surprising, how about this launch show being broadcast to the WORLD live, via the internet? That's exactly what happened, and for the first time on Brasil by a reggae band. With an album fresh out of the oven, "Raçaman", Natiruts begins to tread a new path. The album has a unique sound, and the compositions are increasingly inspiring.
Whether this album will repeat the success of the resounding "Reggae Power", a true "hit factory", we have no way of knowing, and perhaps it is not even the band's focus at the moment, but that in this new work every detail was done with great attention and care, there is no doubt.
MAD TEACHER
For the release of the album, the chosen location was Credicard Hall, a renowned São Paulo music venue. Along with the "Nati", a legendary figure could not be left out. Having mixed almost 90% of the album "Raçaman", the great Mad Professor was confirmed as the opening act. At exactly 23:00, he "takes over" alongside his son, Joe Ariwa. The bad part of this story is that no one could equalize the sound of the speakers, which kept "cracking". Joe Ariwa came down from the stage, and in the middle of the crowd headed towards the soundboard. He spoke to two technicians, but nothing changed. The worst thing is that the crowd didn't get along because the sound didn't vibrate as it should. That's when "Mad", who knows the Brazilian public, started sending some Bob Marley classics. Great idea, since in the first chords of any "King" song, the audience practically does the rest of the work. It was "Is This Love", "Catch a Fire", "Lively up Yourself", but even though we gained that little time, the equalization was far from ideal, until Mad Professor himself went to the technicians. The clear improvement resulted in a few minutes of joy, because in this "back and forth" it was almost midnight and the Natiruts needed to enter, and on top of everything, thousands of people around the world were waiting for the much talked about live broadcast. The expectation was in several Brazilian states, Boston (EUA), Europa countries, in short, the Natiruts managed to shake up the scene once again.NATIRUTS
When the lights went out, euphoria took over Credicard, and without exaggeration. The receptivity and affection of the fans is enormous, in fact, Natiruts knows this so well that they prepared a show especially for them. When they opened with the work song, "Raçaman", it was clear that the "boys from Brasília" had got the flavor right again. Soon after, another new one, "Vento, Sol, Coração", which has a beautiful piano introduction. One detail that caught a lot of attention was the stage. In addition to manual painting work, done by artist Leopoldo Nóbrega, on wooden boards in the background, dynamic lighting full of colors set the right mood for each song. Warming up, dramatizing or animating. Of course this is on purpose, and the person responsible for the light work is Jathiles, the same person who already worked with Cordel do Fogo Encantado. Next, a hit from "Reggae Power" sung with great force by the audience, "Naticongo", and a revival of the album "Nossa Missão", "Cheiro de Flor". Soon after, vocalist Alexandre Carlo thanks the audience and reinforces the importance of always trying to do different things in your songs. Recalling Paralamas do Sucesso's fusion of ska and rock, "Arco-íris e Planetas" begins. A ska that left no one standing still! The brass line of Paulão and André was impeccable. Then another rescue, this time from the album "Verbalize", with "Flashes e Ambições". In other Natiruts shows, many hits were played throughout the performance, however in this one, and that's why we started the article saying it was a special show for fans, side B was the basis of the setlist. Still in this fact, "Espero Que Um Dia" and "Pode ser" from the albums "Qu4tro" and "Povo Brasileiro" respectively, were performed, and remembering whether it was a hit or not, the public sang EVERYTHING, from beginning to end. Despite the undeniable quality of what had been played so far, Natiruts's hit is NATIRUTS HIT! The monstrous reception occurred with "Meu Reggae é Roots". Soon after, a sequence with "Gotas de Vidro" and "Jamaica Roots II" from Verbalize, and the release "Glamour Tropical" from Raçaman. Now the order is bombardment of hits, and this is done with "Quero ser Feliz", "Não Chore meu Amor", "O Carcará e a Rosa" and one especially dedicated to the big Mad Professor, "Liberdade pra Dentro da Cabeça". Returning to the album "Raçaman", another sound that has everything to make a splash with the Natiruts followers. It's the participation of Claudinha Leitte in the beautiful "Sorri, Sou Rei". Then "No Mar" and the band's monster hit, "Natiruts Reggae Power". How could it be, another one from "Raçaman" to close the night: "Groove Bom". This was the release of Natiruts's new work, which certainly sparked even more interest among people in having this complete album in their hands. To thank them, everyone went to the front of the stage and it was a chilling moment. Alexandre Carlo, embraced by the whole band, begins to lead only on the vocals, "Beija-Flor", the band's first hit. Easy to imagine how much the Credicard Hall structures vibrated, right? If you weren't able to make it to the show or see the live stream, stay tuned for the next dates of the "Raçaman" tour.CLICK AND LISTEN
