Natiruts withdraws from the MTV VMB 2009 nomination, causing controversy on the social network Twitter!

One of the most popular reggae bands in Brasil - Natiruts - is causing a stir on Twitter, the most talked-about social network of the moment. The fact arose after Natiruts withdrew itself from the MTV VMB 2009 award in the "Best Reggae Band" category. The band requested its removal from the award through a letter that was published on MTV's own website, and it ended up generating a series of "posts" on Twitter with different feelings... some criticizing, others supporting and others simply finding it strange. Surforeggae has already contacted Natiruts' production and scheduled an interview with Alexandre Carlo (vocalist) to clarify the whole situation. See below the letter sent by the production.

LETTER FROM NATIRUTS' PRODUCTION

"We will begin by saying that we respect all the nominees for the award. Without hypocrisy, we know that artists differ by their popularity and by the numbers acquired in the phonographic market during their careers. But in relation to art, we are all equal. Art is a form of expression for each person and is above any judgment. We would like to congratulate MTV Brasil for the initiative of creating the Reggae category. We hope it continues in the coming years as well. We are withdrawing because we know the great visibility this award will bring to the nominees and we decided to leave our place so that MTV has the freedom to choose another band that is on this difficult path of growth and career consolidation in the Brazilian music scene. We thank everyone who votes in the Reggae category. We thank the people who always follow us. You are the ones who make Natiruts a respected and successful band, here in Brasil and in some places around the world. Good luck to the nominees. Thank you. Natiruts."
