DubSessions-BA! The second edition of the meeting kicks off with full force! Check Surforeggae!

After holding its first edition in September last year, the DubSessions-BA International Meeting returns with full force and holds its second edition, in a season full of national and international attractions from March to December 2012. Aimed at scholars, musicians, producers and sound engineers, the event will provide the participating public with knowledge and information about DUB, a contemporary musical style that emerged in Jamaica in the late 1960s, based on the roots of black music and has a growing audience in the country. Through video samples and live performances, the Meeting will promote cultural diversity and creative interactivity, its main objective, as well as enabling the Bahian public to maintain exchanges with artists and cultural organizers who move the global independent music scene. Furthermore, the event aims to promote social responsibility and cultural diversity, through a musical language that is not yet widespread in Bahia.

ATTRACTIONS

The opening night of DubSessions 2012 begins with the screening of the Brazilian documentary Dub Echoes about the evolution of Jamaican rhythm, and continues with shows by Luciano Mosiah (BA), Capitão América a.k.a Mr. Cappy (BA), Soraia Drummond and DJ Raiz - Dubelétrica (BA), DigitalDubs (RJ) and Brother Culture (UK). Created by the Centro Cultural da Misericórdia - Casa da Águia, the funds from the event will be donated to the Meninos da Ladeira Project, which promotes guidance and socio-cultural development through art education for socially vulnerable minors, residents of Ladeira da Montanha and surrounding areas. The entire setting will be made with PET bottles and materials benefited by the Galeria Viva Project, which seeks to raise awareness among the population by encouraging the habit of recycling materials as raw materials for a new artistic product, creating alternative economic circuits and contributing to the reduction of waste on the planet.
