Bunny Wailer, founding member of the Wailers, is dissatisfied with Kevin McDonald's “Marley” documentary.
Through the newspaper Jamaica Observer, the singer commented that a lot of information about Bob Marley was hidden. Among them is the little attention given to the Rastafarian beliefs expressed by their music.
Wailer also commented that he only agreed to be part of the film because Ziggy Marley (son of the singer) would be the executive producer of the film and this fact would not deny the true story of the king of reggae. In Wailer’s words, published in the newspaper: “Como um Rasta, eu me senti desrespeitado”.
Rastafarian culture, originating from Ethiopians and followers of Haile Selassie, who visited Jamaica in 1966, influenced not only Bob Marley, but was the focus of songs by other reggae artists.
