Fashion passes, but the essence remains!

It is clear that Reggae in Brazil is on the rise and that the rhythm for a long time has caught the attention of the most diverse layers of society and especially the mass media, such as television, radio, newspapers and magazines with large national circulation. With all this promotion carried out by the media, it is natural that curious people, or even people who already had a minimal affinity for the subject, become increasingly interested, which in the first instance creates a sensation similar to the emergence of a new fashion.

Although the vast majority of people involved with the rhythm are against the existence of groups or artists who take advantage of this wave, it is undeniable that moments like this help the dissemination of the authentic ideals and essence that Reggae seeks to convey, as those truly interested always go beyond what is "pushed" to them by the media. In this scenario in which money also keeps old-school artists alive, a problem has arisen, affecting the essence and threatening the occurrence of large-scale events with artists who are even internationally recognized, and who come from careers that span over 30 years.

In order not to risk their money and their careers as businesspeople (which is certainly true), a tradition was created in Brazil of mixing great international attractions such as The Gladiators, Alpha Blondy, Israel Vibration, Culture, Don Carlos, U-Roy, Burning Spear, among others, with some Brazilian artists (with exceptions of course) who are only in the spotlight in the media, but who remain far from the mainstream. ideals of Reggae and which displease the public that is more connected to the traditions of the rhythm of Jah. This public ends up failing to see their "bedside artists" only because of the presence of "these fashion groups".

This is a latent problem, and the absence of the original lovers of the rhythm that for so long was discriminated against in the country has been increasingly noticed, and now in its rise it has been left destitute by those who previously raised its flag. As can be seen, the media that builds can also destroy. Over time, as has happened with so many other musical rhythms in the country, the fashion will pass, and the essence will remain, but it is up to the true supporters of Reggae not to let this essence disappear little by little as is happening at the moment.

Despite this lack of support from a part of the public itself, many groups are keeping the flame burning in each state and region of the country, as it is always possible to hear about organizations or people promoting meetings to discuss the origins of reggae, as well as showing those who are entering this world what the truth is behind everything that exists. Therefore, if you really care about the evolution of Reggae in Brazil, and more than ever want to keep the flame burning, support the artists whether by going to shows, purchasing albums or sharing them with your friends, because believe me! Living on Reggae in Brazil is not easy.
