In Jamaica there are some legends who followed the transition of their music from Calypso, Mento, Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. One of them is Ernest Ranglin, legendary guitarist who has worked with names like Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Skatalites, Toots & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff and many others.
At 82 years old, Ranglin will release his new album titled "Bless Up" in May. Without recording since 2012, "Bless Up" marks the veteran's return to the studios with 11 new compositions.
Interestingly, Island Records' first release (by Chris Blackwell, one of those responsible for Bob Marley's international success) was an album by Ernest Ranglin. He also played guitar and arranged the label's first international hit, "My boy Lollipop" by Millie Small.
