Marcia Griffiths will receive yet another award in recognition of her career!

The "Ordem da Jamaica" (Order of Jamaica) award was announced this week in Kingston for Marcia Griffiths, also known for having formed the I-Threes, backing vocals for Bob Marley and the Wailers. The order of merit award is the fourth most important in the country's history and will be awarded at a ceremony on October 20th in Kingston. Marcia had previously received the ’Ordem da Distinção’, another important recognition from the government for her contribution to the country. At the same ceremony, trumpeter Bobby Ellis, bassist Phil Chen, the great Linton ’Kwesi’ Johnson, Carl Brady (one of the founders of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires) and Winston ’Wee Pow’ Powell, founder of the Stone Love sound system, will receive awards.
