The objective will always be the same. Bringing together thousands of young people around music, using it as a strong instrument to raise awareness and combat drugs, completely contrary to what the majority of public opinion thinks about the rhythm of Jah. Reggae is a mixture of various musical styles and genres present throughout the world. It was the great sun of love sent by God to illuminate humanity, and it is covering the entire earth. It combines Jamaican music, African rhythms and lyrics that talk about social issues that we experience...” - highlights Alfredo Rasta, producer and organizer of the event.
The last edition of the festival brought together around 30 a thousand young people from all social classes, demonstrating the importance of reggae for the cultural formation of children and young people from the outskirts of São Paulo. The festival has the support of the City Hall of São Paulo, Municipal Department of Culture, Subprefecture of São Miguel CEPIR and the Youth Coordination. The population of São Miguel, Itaim Paulista, São Paulo and neighboring municipalities such as Guarulhos and Poá, will be able to watch the shows for free, in addition to acquiring knowledge of the Rastafari culture. Cultural producer Alfredo Rasta explains that this is a different festival of which there is no previous experience, whether in São Paulo or in other states, which is why the capital, more specifically Zona Leste, was chosen for its holding.
