REGGAE LITTLE LIONS! Leões de Israel launches project inédito for o público infantil!
Last month, the band Leões de Israel - one of the most renowned in the country - performed a show at the Centro Cultural, which on that occasion was filled with children having fun, singing and dancing to good old reggae music.
(Marcio and Maria Beatriz at the Centro Cultural)
From there, Edu Sattajah, bassist and musical producer, and Thyago Braulio – P&MB Produções, the band's producer, began research where they discovered international works such as "The Disney Reggae Club", "B Is For Bob", "Family Time" and "Reggae for Kids". Nationally, they found no records of the genre aimed at a children's audience and envisioned this project seeking to bring reggae to children as well.
(Enzo, son of guitarist Lion Farmer)

ACCESSIBILITY

To carry out the project, they sought accessibility as the key differentiator to reach a greater number of people. The show features translation in LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language), used by deaf people to communicate with other deaf people and even hearing people.

MUSIC FOR THE DEAF

Accessibility is a cause that Leões de Israel proposes to bring to the general public's awareness so that we can discuss alternatives to improve leisure offerings, spreading and enabling entertainment for people with special needs. We seek equity for people of all ages, colors and needs sharing the same experience. Our proposal is bold, but not unprecedented. Music for the deaf is already an initiative carried out in some other countries, yet little known, performed or publicized here. According to the last census conducted by IBGE in 2010 in the city of São Paulo, 2,759,004 people declared having some disability, namely: 2,274,466: Visual disability 516,663 Hearing disability 674,409 Motor disability 127,549 Mental and intellectual disability

REGGAE LITTLE LIONS

The "Reggae Little Lions" show will use, in addition to LIBRAS translation, a device called "shake", a kind of platform that vibrates with sound waves. The sensation of the music will be conveyed through vibration, making the experience even more complete. More than understanding the lyrics of the songs, the experience becomes sensory when they recognize each beat.

OUR LITTLE LION

(The "little" Lion)
An important partnership was established for this project embraced by illustrator Hiro Kawahara, a specialist in creation and development of advertising characters and children's illustration. Recognized for his work on tray liners for a global fast food chain, he developed projects for the Ayrton Senna institute, food industry companies, financial firms and advertising agencies. Kawahara's art brings the project to life in the creation and development of a "Little Lion" – a project character still without a defined name - that will certainly enchant all children and adults.
