FEMININE HI-FI! Projeto São Paulo de reggae enaltece a força of mulher! Check it out!

In a pioneering initiative, the collective/project "Feminine Hi-Fi" brings reggae music sessions to the streets formed exclusively by women. Organized by Renata Aguiar, Daniella Pimenta, Andrea Soriano and Laylah Arruda, the project aims to expand female presence in the reggae/sound system scene of São Paulo, currently predominantly male. Feminine Hi-Fi is the first street Jamaican music session formed exclusively by women, among selectors and singers (singjays). The musical selection spans all sonic eras of Jamaica, with 100% vinyl selection from the personal collections of each resident or guest. Songs are performed by the singjays in a unique way over riddims straight from the records.

OPEN DOORS

The project welcomes guests on a rotating basis, seeking to give space not only to those who have been active in this scene for some time, but also — and mainly — to those just taking their first steps. According to the project's founders, the idea is to unite, gather, encourage and merge knowledge and learning, even stimulating "cells" spreading the project in other parts of Brazil. The collective's main goal is to show women's presence, strength, importance and journey in artistic expressions, especially in music, bringing feminine expression in reggae to the audience, as well as sharing fun and culture for all ages. The collective's debut takes place on March 13, celebrating International Women's Month. Besides the founders/residents, the event will welcome 13 more women, among selectors and singers. The party is free and will take place in the west zone of São Paulo.
