Fans of Bob Marley and Jamaican music certainly know the phrase "And then Georgie would make the fire light, logwood burning through the night", something like:
And then, Georgie would make the flame, and the campeche would burn into the night.".
This passage from "No Woman no Cry" immortalized one of Bob Marley's great friends, Georgie, who unfortunately left us this Wednesday, October 6th.
The exact age of George Headley “Georgie” Robinson has not been revealed, but it is said that he was approaching his 80th birthday. For many years, Georgie worked at the Bob Marley museum in Jamaica.
He lived in Trenchtown when Bob moved there with his mother and they became great friends. Georgie was one of the people who witnessed all the struggles and difficulties experienced by Bob and the other Wailers at the beginning of their career. Rest in peace!
Check out this and other legends that have already left us, in the special section "In Memoriam".
