Legendary Jamaican artist Harris Seaton, better known as B.B. Seaton, passed away this Monday at the age of 79. His résumé includes vocal work alongside other greats such as Ken Boothe, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Alton Ellis.
"Bibby", as he was also known, was also the songwriter behind major hits such as "Freedom Street" (Ken Boothe), "Swing and Dine" (The Melodians), and "Give Love a Try" (Delroy Wilson). Seaton also became known as the vocalist of The Gaylads, a group formed in Kingston that landed several hits in the early days of the Jamaican recording industry.
Check out this and other legends who have already left us in the special "In Memoriam" section.

Bibby worked with renowned producers, among them Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, Sonia Pottinger, Leslie Kong, and Rupie Edwards. Although he was not a very well-known name in reggae's mainstream, Seaton's contribution is enormous, whether as vocalist, songwriter, or arranger of essential works of Jamaican music. Rest in peace, master!
