Grammy 2001: See the nominees for Best Reggae Album!

The Grammy has already announced the nominees in the Reggae category for 2001. The Reggae category was created in 1984, with Black Uhuru's album Anthem as the first award winner. The Grammy has honored artists such as Burning Spear, Sly & Robbie, Bunny Wailer, Ziggy Marley, Shaggy, Inner Circle, Shabba Ranks, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff, Beenie Man (most recent winner).

Beyond the Best Reggae Album nominees, Bob Marley, twenty years after his death, has been nominated for a Grammy. Marley is competing in the Best Long Form Music Video category for the documentary "Rebel Music: the Bob Marley story", released on DVD last year. The video tells the saga of the poor boy from the Jamaican ghettos who rose to become the Third World's first pop star. The DVD was released in Brazil at the end of 2001 by Universal.
