Roots Reggae Potiguar with the band Reggalyze from Natal!

Roots Reggae

The band Reggalyze has been on the road since March 1999, after Sidney Cavalcanti (Vocals) managed to include it with just three months of rehearsals in the Anthropophagy Festival held at one of the city's most popular venues. The performance exceeded expectations, including those of the musicians themselves, who from then on never stopped receiving invitations. In addition to social concerns, their compositions feature romantic themes and references to their city (Natal-RN). They currently perform their own songs and a vast repertoire of songs by their idols, such as Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Cidade Negra, etc. Following the Roots Reggae line, Reggalyze is one of the main representatives of the style in Rio Grande do Norte. They have already formed followers who accompany them at almost every show and sing their songs in chorus.

The band released a few months ago the demo CD "RIBEIRA", which has three songs including the title track "Ribeira" as well as the tracks "Negros" and "Verde, Amarelo e Vermelho".

In 2001 the band was champion of the Pop Rock Tropical Festival, where it competed against several pop and rock bands and still enchanted everyone with its Roots Reggae. And it doesn't stop there — this year the band was nominated to compete for the Hangar Award in the 2001 Revelation category; now it's just a matter of cheering for the band to win and certainly spread Reggae more and more here in the Potiguar capital.
