A major
A major reggae event took place this Friday (06/14) in São Paulo's east zone, the Irie Look Reggae Festival, which happened at the EXPRESSO BRASIL venue, which was packed with people who danced and jumped to reggae all night long.
We arrived there around 10:30 PM when the first band RAÍZ TRIBAL from São Paulo was already getting the crowd going with original sounds and some covers of king Bob, and in the middle of the show brought to the stage for a special appearance guitarist Neto from TRIBO DE JAH, and for those who don't know, Neto is the father of Raiz Tribal's vocalist and guitarist. But that was just the beginning of a great reggae night that was still to come.
When RAÍZ TRIBAL left the stage, DJ Samuel Baydoun - Samuca (son of Fauzy, vocalist of Tribo de Jah) started dropping heavy tracks, stirring things up between bands with the best reggae. Walking around we met our great friend Miojo, vocalist of RASTA BROTHERS, and talked about reggae and his upcoming shows. Soon after came SANTA CRUZ from Maranhão shaking EXPRESSO's structure with the more than special participation of Célia Sampaio and some members of MANO BANTU, Moisés, Beavis and Eduardo. Only top reggae! Sending many positive messages to the crowd.
The band RAIZES RASTA from Jundiaí came on with great vibration and played the song "O tempo não para" by Cazuza, what a surprise! And we, once again talking with Miojo, SANTA CRUZ appears beside us, we talked a lot about the bands playing, about reggae from here and from Maranhão and other things, very attentive with reggae in his veins, he introduced us to Célia Sampaio and the guys from Mano Bantu who invited us to the recording of their newest CD, being arranged for next week. We met the Raízes Rasta guys in the dressing room corridors who had just left the stage, we talked and took photos.
Suddenly TRIBO DE JAH's van arrives beside us, Zé Orlando greeted us and they went straight to the dressing room. The Espírito Santo band SALVAÇÃO was next to get the crowd going, showing what they came for. The shows were all very good without exception, all with great quality reggae. MYSTICAL ROOTS took the stage, sending the crowd into ecstasy with their exciting dubs and songs from their CD. We also met JOÃO TERRA in front of Tribo's dressing room who was very happy to see us again, we exchanged information about his upcoming shows and his band. Mystical Roots also tore it up.
And last, the band most awaited by the crowd still packing EXPRESSO BRASIL, TRIBO DE JAH, people sang their songs in chorus, it didn't even seem like they were the last band. We met Mauro (who works at Expresso Brasil) who helped us get into the venue to cover the show, every time we ran into him it was a rush, but he treated us very well. We left around 5:30 AM, at that hour Tribo de Jah was still on stage playing the encore.
This reggae event that lifted the east zone was very good and was well enjoyed by everyone, we didn't witness any fights at the venue. It was great and in the end our legs were hurting because we didn't stop for a second. Well, that was the big event, and EXPRESSO BRASIL and its team deserve congratulations!
