Bob Marley’s family discovers unreleased recordings of the singer!
A collection of unreleased Bob Marley songs was found by his family and could serve as the basis for a new album, the Billboard website reported. Ziggy Marley, one of the Jamaican singer's sons, revealed that he and his brothers should sing over recordings made in the late 1970s. "I didn't know any of these songs," said Bob Marley's son. "The way he's playing guitar on one song I heard sounds like jazz. It's not the kind of thing you'd expect from him".
The singer's son hopes the album with the new recordings will come out next year, and the Marley family is already in negotiations with Universal for the release. Ziggy also revealed that the project may feature special guests, such as guitarist Carlos Santana. A similar project was done in the 1990s, when unreleased John Lennon recordings were found.
At the time, the other former Beatles members added their voices and instruments to the songs, which resulted in "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love", released on the compilations "Anthology 1" and "Anthology 2". Bob Marley, the most emblematic personality of reggae, was the first Jamaican musician to achieve international stardom in the mid-1970s. Composer of genre classics such as "No Woman No Cry" and "I Shot the Sheriff", the musician died prematurely on May 11, 1981, at age 36, of cancer. Ziggy Marley released his new album, "Dragonfly", in March, his first without the band The Melody Makers.
