Red Meditation: For those who haven’t heard it, here’s a tip. For those who have, you’ll hardly disagree with any word written here!
Red Meditation:
A sensational band, formed in BAHIA. A great musical hotbed, stage of major events on the national and international scene. With an Argentine guitarist and an American vocalist, you hardly feel the band's origin weighing positively or negatively. Still titling their shows as REHEARSALS, it shows that humility is the strong point of the charisma poured out on the audience. RED MEDITATION is gradually conquering its audience, with the small opportunities granted at good live music venues.
At shows, Praise to the Lord is the goal, always achieved without it seeming like a mandatory conversion. Everything very natural, as every opinion should be. Also very natural are the memories the beat brings us, like DRY & HEAVY for the vocal delivery, ISRAEL VIBRATION for the dub, and many other bands that could sound stranger than the previous ones. Space is left for your memory.
On the theoretical side, which given the band's excellent quality seems not even to exist, they seem to have done their homework well. Drummer Vicente, who seems about to explode from exuding so much vibration, shows he was first in class. Perfect beats in the rhythm of each musician, who unlike the vast majority of Brazilian percussionists, manages to follow any turnaround. Bassist Ricardo shows that being self-taught means feeling the music in your heart and hands, and transforming it into feeling.
Guitarists Daniel and Javier, in total sync, carry the solo-rhythm integration perfectly, almost imperceptibly. And what to say about Popó, who handles vocals and percussion without dropping the ball? Totally connected to Molly, whose voice touches not only the heart but the mind of those who can feel the lyrics. With the great differential of being able to talk to the audience about the compositions and the band's spirituality. That is rare around here.
At this show, you will understand the root of reggae if you still think it is in the waterfall, on the beach or on the pretty face of some boy/girl. It is in your mind, in your senses. They will be grateful for a performance by this sextet that came to São Paulo to stay. Finally, this is just an appetizer for those who have not yet checked out the band's sound live. A gratifying experience. And a hope like that very faint light at the end of the tunnel that does not let the essence of reggae die.
