Daniel Brown, son of star Dennis Brown, talks about his plans for the future!

Daniel Brown,

Daniel Brown, son of the great icon Dennis Brown, has been very busy lately. With an album about to be released, three contract proposals in London and the United States, plans to develop a product line bearing his father's name, the 20-year-old is also preparing an annual tribute to Dennis in London. The tribute and memorial to Dennis Brown will take place on the same day as International Reggae Day, July 1st, and will compete with another tribute held every year in New York – USA.

Daniel explained, "We cannot limit ourselves to Jamaica alone, we have to reach all the people who appreciate my father's character and genius, not only for his music, but also for his personality". Strangely, many Dennis Brown fans still do not know that the singer passed away more than 4 years ago.

The group called "Golden Brown", formed by Dinah, Marla and Deniece (Dennis Brown's sisters) will be participating in the tribute. Daniel is the only member of the family currently living in Jamaica. He became a naturalized Jamaican citizen shortly after his father passed away, and lives alone in Kingston with cats, dogs and fish. "I feel very much at home here... The young people in London are very narrow-minded... it's just home and work. Here I have more freedom to think about Culture and more inspiration".

His album is in preparation, and the singer has learned a lot and is grateful to his mentors: Beres Hammond, the Marley Family, Morgan Heritage, Gregory Isaacs and John Holt. Daniel also recounts how he became involved with music after his father's death. At that time he was finishing his studies at "Edna Manley" College in London and found it very difficult to return to school after losing his father, and so began to get involved with music. However, he is determined to complete his studies to fulfill one of his dreams: Teaching art. The Dennis Brown Foundation has helped many young people by providing scholarships to those determined to pursue a career in Visual and Performing Arts at the University of the West Indies.
