Super Coverage: Tribute at the Marina is a boon for national Reggae and, above all, for peace! Check EVERYTHING!

Super Coverage: Tribute at the Marina is a boon for national Reggae and, above all, for peace! Check EVERYTHING!
When it comes to tribute, producers waste no time, especially when the honoree is the "messiah," Bob Marley. With carefully selected bands, audience receptiveness would not be the problem. The event featured no less than: To Fly, Natural Reggae, Chimarruts, Armandinho, Expressão Regueira, Planta & Raiz, Raizes Rasta, Maskavo, Adão Negro and Ponto de Equilíbrio. In terms of bands, the event is a success... but is an event made only of performances? Negative, and that is why the producer still hires two of the best DJs in São Paulo: Marcello Tux and Zambol (photo). Pure nitroglycerin! Let's get to the show! The gates opened at 12:00 on this cold Sunday, but special because of Mother's Day, and precisely for that reason the crowd started arriving in force around 14:00, after all, a "social" with mom is more than a pleasure, it is an obligation. The Tribute took place on the shores of the Guarapiranga reservoir, and the sun gave a special touch to the scenery (photo). With an agile team setting up the instruments on stage, To Fly was quickly performing.
With their usual expressiveness (photo), the band showcases its own musical catalog, already warming up the crowd that would have a true "reggae marathon" until the end of the event. Performing a Bob Marley cover, "Turn your Lights Down Low," approval was immediate, and To Fly wins the audience over for its entire set list. During the break from To Fly to the band Natural Reggae, Tux and Zambol's eclectic DJ set begins. I say eclectic because the two deliver exact doses from Armandinho and Natiruts to Gladiators and Dry & Heavy.
The audience begins to show up, and Natural Reggae takes their positions. With energy to spare (photo), the band plays original songs, very well received by the crowd (photo), and already has its tribute to the king on the "trigger": "Is This Love." The audience chorus for this song was spine-tingling. And as if the tributes were not enough, Gladiators also entered Natural Reggae's Set List with the heavy hit "Dreadlocks The Time is Now," after all, the legends had played two days earlier in the capital of São Paulo. Another break and... "helmets on"! Tux and Zambol play "Bellyful" by Gladiators and "Tranças Naturais" by Noção Rasta to blow the minds of the nearly 2,500 reggae fans present up to that point.
Coming directly from Rio Grande do Sul, Chimarruts, already with the status of a major band in São Paulo, is awaited with great affection by the audience, and believe it: affection returned (photo)! Songs like "Chapéu de Palha" and "Pitanga" carry the audience together with the band from Rio Grande do Sul to the very end. The chosen Bob cover was "Is This Love," which featured a special appearance by the band Mosaico. For those who do not know, the two bands performed several shows together, functioning as a kind of musical exchange. A brotherhood that sets an example for the National Reggae scene (or not). The sunset beautified the scenery even more (photo1/photo2), while the Chimarruts show came to an end.
Now, another great success from the south of the country was ready to set the crowd on fire: Armandinho & Banda. With breakout hits in São Paulo, the band received uninterrupted response from the audience (photo). When the first notes of "Folha de Bananeira" sounded, not a single person could be seen standing still. Bob Marley's "Roots Rock Reggae" was an excellent cover. Armandinho thanked the affection of the people of São Paulo a lot and very clearly showed his humility and satisfaction in playing in the state. They also presented the working track from their next album called "Desenho de Deus."
It is time for the band from São Paulo that is among the top ones in terms of "audience receptiveness" (photo), Expressão Regueira. With great charisma on stage, André "Mastiga" and beautiful Camila (photo), crush the vocals on "Navio Negreiro." The band knows how to carry the crowd with them, especially when they play songs like Bob Marley's "Could you be Loved." Highlight for the already famous capoeira "move" on stage (photo). Another short break and the heavy tracks do not stop. Now the weight of Dubadelic and Edu Sattajah, bassist of Leões de Israel in solo work, "punished" our heads! This event was really well planned, because no sooner had one heavyweight band left than another equivalent took its place on stage, or do you not find Planta & Raíz equivalent? The audience does, and they press their bodies against the barrier to see Zeider and his "troupe" up close in another performance.
The band from São Paulo is on a high. The new album, "De cara pro Mundo," selling very well and still with a super requested video on MTV, "A Dois Passos do Paraíso," obviously did not require much effort to drive Marina de Interlagos crazy, which by this point in the event was already packed. "Com Certeza" and "De cara pro Mundo," works from different periods, are highly successful, thus proving the cohesive work of Planta & Raiz.
Now the band from São Paulo (more precisely from Jundiaí), Raízes Rasta, is in position (photo). Reaping the fruits of the latest album, "Atitude," the band does not stop "collecting" fans and hits. With its major success "Luz do Sol" playing on several Brazilian radio stations, this was certainly one of the crowd's biggest requests. Peter Tosh was very well remembered by the band. Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" was a blast. Felipe and Maurício, harassed by fans, always return the affection they receive (photo).
Now, from Brasília to São Paulo, one of the bands that started this route of growth and cultural and commercial strengthening of national reggae, Maskavo. "Asas," as always, is an explosion among the audience, becoming one of the highlights. Songs like "Folhas Secas," "Ela, Só Ela" and "Quando o Sol Nascer," make Marina de Interlagos vibrate in a single voice. "O Amor não Sabe Esperar," by Paralamas do Sucesso with Marisa Monte, is very well received by the audience. To close with a golden key, another major hit by the band and a beautiful cover of the king, "Anjo do Céu" followed by "No Woman No Cry."
Now the reggae of Adão Negro takes the stage. The band, which has been releasing one hit after another, and owners of a peculiar charisma with the people of Bahia, was highly awaited by the audience. Vocalist Serginho, showing his humility by wearing a Surforeggae T-shirt we gave as a gift (photo), knows how to set everyone on fire! You know the "red button - do not press"? When they played "Botar Um" and "Feed Back," it was certainly pressed. The crowd loudly asked for the song "Vai Morrer pra Lá," and the band calmly fulfills the requests. Another high point of the show was the songs "War" and "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. To play "Minha Alma" by Rappa, Serginho is accompanied by Felipe and Glauber from Raízes Rasta (photo). Another break of heavy tracks, this time with Red Meditation, Max Romeo and Alpha Blondy, precedes the Roots Reggae of Ponto de Equilíbrio.
The much talked about band from Vila Isabel, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, is the last of the night. A DUB, to do the honors, prepares the crowd for the hard-hitting messages of Ponto de Equilíbrio. "Árvore do Reggae," "Segregação Social," "Ditadura da Televisão" and the major hit "Aonde vai Chegar" are part of a continuous performance of "heavy tracks." Hélio Bentes is always highly cheered by the audience (photo). "Soul Rebel" is the band's tribute to Bob Marley. This was the "Tributo a Bob Marley da Marina Interlagos," a well-produced show and, above all, a safe one; once again, we recorded no fights or disagreements. This shows the maturity of this audience, which will be increasingly rewarded with exclusive spaces, specialized venues and major events like this one.
