The rainy night last Saturday did not get in the way of the long-awaited release party for Edu Ribeiro & Cativeiro's CD "Roots Reggae Classics Vol 1 e Outras Canções". Opening the night at around 1:00 a.m., Vibrações Rasta (AL) took the stage with a repertoire of pulsing songs, warming up the crowd with heavyweight Bob Marley cover versions. When the next act was announced, the most anticipated show of the night began under huge expectations and applause. Edu Ribeiro stepped onstage at 2:20 a.m. with a blazing intro. In an emotional statement, the singer thanked the audience for the trophy received the day before at Expresso Brasil, where the "BEST OF THE YEAR 2004" awards were held. Edu Ribeiro & Cativeiro won in the "Breakthrough Band of the Year" category, and the trophy raised on the KVA stage was loudly celebrated. After the thanks and emotions, the first special guest was announced. Improvising on the spot, Chocolate, lead singer of Vibrações Rasta (AL), came onstage and joined Edu for a worthy rendition of the king Bob Marley's "Trenchtown Rock". Next, Edu delivered songs such as "Alma Negra", "Me namora" and "Gaivotas Sobre o Mar" - tracks already on everyone's lips. The second guest appearance was even more special. Returning to his musical roots, Edu Ribeiro, together with Pivete and his group, had the crowd buzzing to hip-hop. A perfect blend, and very well received. The much-awaited song "Sereia" was announced together with the final, equally notable guest: André (percussionist - Peixelétrico), who came in with harmonica solos to enrich the song even further, a track he also took part in recording. The show ended with "O Sol", Edu's hit that first became known in forró circles. The crowd said goodbye with loud applause and warm support for the emotion on display from Edu Ribeiro & Cativeiro, who closed their release night in grand style, promising what fans most wanted to hear: - "This is only the beginning!". Even after so many surprises, the night at KVA was only getting started, and then it was time for forró to take over. Caiana came on a little after 4:00 a.m., heating up the forró crowd with major hits such as "Boneca", "Jangada", and the rest of a repertoire known by everyone. Despite the "weather-related setbacks", the resilient audience stayed until the end to watch the final act, Raiz do Sana, which took the stage at around 5:30 a.m. What stamina - they had already performed for hours earlier at ForreggaeBrasil in Vinhedo.
