Johnny Ringo, or simply Ringo, is a Jamaican singer, toaster, DJ who emerged in the late 1970s, influenced by great toasters such as U-Roy, Dillinger, Big Youth, Trinity, etc. Born Bradley John Miller in 1961, in Jones Town (Kingston / Jamaica), Johnny began working at Randy's record store at a young age, and it was there that he met Welton Irie, who would become a partner and sparring partner. On soundsystems, the singer kept his stage name, which originated from the real Johnny Ringo, an outlaw American cowboy. Ringo debuted in the recording business in the late 1970s with an album in partnership with singer Dobby Dobson, produced by T. Hutchinson, called "Sweet Christmas" (Dobby Dobson Featuring Ringo), which also had help from some Inner Circle musicians such as Ian Lewis on guitar, Charles Farquharson and Touter Harvey on keyboards, and the famous musician Earl "Chinna" Smith on lead guitar, in addition to Sticky on percussion and Junior Douglas on drums. Next came his first solo album, "Two Coxman", released in 1981 and recorded at Channel One studios in Kingston, Jamaica. Johnny Ringo made more albums with renowned musicians such as Roots Radics, The High Times Band and partnerships on albums with fellow toasters Louie Lepkie and Asher Senator, in addition to participating in an album with superstars Yellowman and Ranking Toyan, and also with producer George Phang. Unfortunately, after a brilliant career, Johnny Ringo died from a cocaine overdose.
