The biggest music festival at Piauí, featured the biggest local and national bands, such as: Acesso, Full Reggae, CabesAtiva, Karranka, Cidade Negra and Tribo de Jah. On the first day (01/07) of Piauí POP, the regional band CabesAtiva, from the coast of Piauí, opened the festival with a heavy sound that infected the crowd. Their hits “A mata”, “Travado”, among others, dictated the excitement and prospected the quality of the event throughout its course. Then, another reggae band that shook the public was Full Reggae, another work appreciated by the people of Teresina. The main stage was the performance of the band Cidade Negra, remembering great hits such as "Girassol", "Johnny B. Goode", "Pensamento", etc., bringing the crowd to more “Perto de Deus”. Tony Garrido dominates the audience with his striking stage presence.
But the one who really got the crowd going was Banda Acesso, who months earlier released their first work. The hits “Espelho”, “Palavras no papel”, “Angústia”, among others, showed great receptivity from the local public. The band, which is much loved by the people of Teresina, was undoubtedly the highlight of the first day of the festival. Full Reggae returned to the stage to close the night. With an original roots reggae proposal, the people of Teresina are increasingly appreciating the band's work. On 07/03, the opening of the night was none other than the national reggae reference band, Tribo de Jah. The Tribe was impressed by the people of Teresina, who interacted with the band in a very warm and receptive way. The band knew how to conduct the show well, mixing classic songs and new hits from their latest release, "In Version". “Uma Onda que Passou”, “Babilônia em Chamas”, Regueiros Guerreiros” and, the one that cannot be missed in the repertoire, “Teresina à São Luis”, a song that shows the entire interaction between the two capitals.
At the press conference, Fauzi Beydoun recalls the beginning of his career where he played in Teresina, showing all his affection and respect for the city. He adds that Teresina is also a reference for national reggae, and that other states do not have the opportunity to learn about the work of local bands. As an example, Fauzi cites the band Acesso as a reference and evolution of Teresina reggae, and is happy with the proliferation of reggae bands throughout the country, showing that reggae is breaking down barriers and prejudices.
After Tribo de Jah, it was time for the band Karranka to take the regional bands stage for an excellent performance. The crowd really enjoyed the band's performance, which made the festival end the way it started... PERFECT! Congratulations to all the regional bands that participated in this Piauí POP 2005, and stay tuned to Surforeggae for more news from the Piauí bands.
