The stones rolled this past Thursday, the 21st, with two great revelations for the national reggae scene. Bearing the "Terra Sagrada" in their respective names, the Alma Zion and the Raizion, they have only one proposal: Quality original Reggae! A lot of beautiful people were present this night, and even with the annoying drizzle outside, inside Açaí catches fire with the DJing of Luiz Reggaesoul & Surforeggae, breaking everything with Junior Murvin, The Congos, Justin Hinds, Dennis Brown and "other things"...
The first band to perform was Raizion. We had already mentioned them in the last article, and anyone who read it and went to the event can see it with their eyes and ears... it's PESO! If the quality instrumental wasn't enough, the lyrics are very well written, sending a conscious message through the rhythm of Jah. In conversation with keyboardist Tiago, he reveals that the band's main reference are artists from Ilhas Virgens such as, for example, Midnite and Yahadanai. From the introduction, this data could already be proven. Two keyboards, bass and drums above, provided all the peculiar cadence of this new crop of world reggae.
Raizion's setlist was full of inclusions, such as "Don’t Move" and "Love the Life You Live" from Midnite, "Ku Klux Klan" from Steel Pulse, "Politiki" from Alpha Blondy, etc, in addition to the great own compositions such as "O Reflexo", "Miragem", and the song that everyone sang with a lot of energy, "Vitórias e Conquistas". The band closed the performance with the psychedelic aspect of Reggae, DUB. Don't miss out on Raizion's consistent work by clicking on the link below.

Now, Açaí Praia takes over the stage from Alma Zion. Led by Giraffha 17, the band had some unusual presences in this presentation, such as Mr. Kuki on keyboards, Douglinhas from Reggae Style on Bass, Ska on drums, anyway, do I need to say anything else? Giraffha 17, the band's lead singer, is always busy promoting his work... and this show showed that things are working out. The enthusiasm with which the audience sang their own songs was chilling. "Jamaican Colors", "Moleque de Rua", "Revolução" and "Eu Joguei meu Pente Fora", a literary version of "Since i Throw the Comb Away" from Twinkle Brothers, raised choruses from those who had more "intimate" contact with the first album, "Distante da Babilônia".
Those who knew "Distante da Babilônia" had great surprises. This team of beasts put a heavier look on the songs, and revealed in practice what will happen in the second work entitled, "É Fogo, e vai Queimar!". Just to give you an idea, the band Cimarons and the star Max Romeo were remembered in excellent Portuguese versions of "Ship Ahoy" and "One Step Forward", or rather, "Vai Navio" and "Um Passo para Frente", respectively.

These bands are under serious work, and any progress will be reported here on Surforeggae. Wait for the official release of their albums, which will be published in our news section. A babilônia vai tremer!
