As expected, Damian Marley wins the Grammy for best reggae album of 2005!
48º Grammy, which took place last Wednesday ((08/02/2006), in Staples Center, in Los Angeles, did not surprise reggae fans, as it consecrated Damian Marley as the winner of best reggae album of 2005. The nominees were:
Our Music - Burning Spear
Welcome To Jamrock - Damian Marley
The Trinity - Sean Paul
Clothesdrop - Shaggy
Black Gold & Green - Third World
Damian also won category 27 (Best Urban/Alternative Performance). The most orthodox supported Burning Spear, who was in Brazil on February 4th and 5th, as Salvador and São Paulo, respectively. Burning already took home the statuette in 2000, with the album "Calling Rastafari".
