The night of Saturday, April 8, 2006 in Salvador was marked by a very big and important event for Reggae in the city. We are talking about “Kildare Tributo a Bob Marley” that took thousands of people to Wet’n Wild, a place that has already hosted great Reggae Mundial beasts such as Gregory Isaacs, Lucky Dube, Groundation and Andrew Tosh.
Apesar from the threats of rain that appeared, the night was very beautiful and full of brilliant performances by the artists. It all started with the show by the local band “Mosiah”, which already achieves a relative capacity wherever it goes.
Preparing the public for the recording of his first DVD which will take place on September 2nd in Salvador, Andrew Tosh took to the stage for the 3rd time in Bahia and as usual performed a highly vibrant show, always paying homage to his father – Peter Tosh with songs such as “Coming In Hot” and “Legalize It”. Many rumors surround the recording of DVD by Andrew Tosh which will take place at an exclusive party in tribute to the great Peter Tosh, former companion of Bob Marley and Bunny Livingstone on The Wailers. As. People are very curious to know which band will accompany Andrew on the show and according to the production team it will be something very well done and professional. It's worth the wait.
Despite the rain, which was already falling heavily at the time, the public was not intimidated and enjoyed Reggae regardless of the weather. That was when the Bahian band Adão Negro took the stage, which has stood out on the national scene. The “Adão” show, as she is affectionately called by her fans, was full of surprises, such as special appearances by Da Gama (Cidade Negra), Champignon (ex-Charlie Brown Jr) and Andrew Tosh. Além, each special guest singing songs with Adão Negro, everyone came together at the end and sang the anthem “One Love” by Bob Marley.
It was about time and the band Solar System (Sistema Solar) took over the stage. É The tuning that the African drummer Balengola Richacha puts on his instrument is impressive. Each time the musician played, the most sensitive ears remembered the now deceased drummer Carlton “Carly” Barret, who played with Bob Marley. Balengola and played with various artists such as Wailers, the French band Good Morning Babylones and the son of Carlton Barret himself – Akila Barret. Aos, few musicians were getting comfortable and the eager public screamed for Alpha Blondy. Não. It took a long time and the The lights went out and the show began with an instrumental that took the thousands of fans who were there by breath away.
Alpha then took to the stage singing “Psalme 23”, already a trademark of his shows. From that moment on, only spectacular sequences were presented. “Politiki”, “New Dawn” and “Sweet Fanta Diallo” showed that the 53-year-old singer is in top form. The band's bassist ran and walked around the stage throughout the show, shaking up those present. Meanwhile, the backing vocalists and Alpha Blondy himself tried to communicate with the audience by speaking a few words in Portuguese, bringing even those who didn't know him to euphoria. Blondy's infectious and fast-paced reggae was well received for the 3rd time in Salvador, where the artist is one of the most popular of the rhythm.
Until the end of the show, Alpha said goodbye to the audience 3 times, but it seemed like the energy was so much that he couldn't resist and came back. The show ended with “Brigadier Sabary”, another classic by Alpha Blondy that is part of the album “Rasta Poué”. With the schedule already well advanced, the band Roots Nyabinghi took to the stage and greatly pleased those who still had the energy to dance to the sound of Reggae. A. “Roots” had a very diverse repertoire made up of their own songs and well-made covers. Congratulations to the organization of the event. The professionalization of Reggae in Bahia is on the right track. À As less known bands have space in events like this, perhaps, Salvador will once again be considered as the city that most exports Reggae artists to the rest of the country.
