Groundation shows Porto de Galinhas why they are one of the world's top reggae bands! Exclusive!
The first question that comes to mind is “Are they from this planet?” We looked a lot, but we couldn't find suitable adjectives to describe these musicians' time at Brasil, more precisely at Porto de Galinhas – PE. Celebrating the tour for their new album, “Upon the Bridge”, the group disembarked at Brasil for a two-week schedule of performances, which began on November 1st at São Paulo to an audience of 14 thousand people. The group that was going to perform at the “Muru Muru” nightclub in Porto de Galinhas, had to play in another location due to the City Hall having at the last minute prevented all shows near the venue for environmental preservation reasons. Out of respect for the local Groundation fans, the event organizers kept the show in the city, despite all the difficulties and setbacks. The space that would host a big name in World Reggae for the first time in history was packed and those present were euphorically awaiting the big moment. We had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with the band members and everyone was very pleased to be in Brasil once again. Filled with classics from previous albums such as “Silver Tongue Show”, “We Free Again” and “Picture on The Wall” and songs from the release “Upon the Bridge”, such as “Down” and “Sleeping Bag-o-wire” the group demonstrated that they are even more mature musically than the last time they were on Brasil. In the middle of the presentation, technical problems occurred and the power supply was interrupted. On that occasion, the group showed that it is very strong in improvisation, putting on a real show of percussion, brass and also dance with the backing vocals Jamaicaon Ikesha. Once electrical energy was re-established, the band returned to doing what they know best: Reggae roots in its most original form. At the requests of the audience present, the band still played until dawn. Through the windows of the place it was possible to see the sea and everything was completed in very good weather. Harrison Stafford, the band's lead singer, said he was very satisfied with the new album and that he considers it the best of his career to date, where the musicians are increasingly focused and delving deeper musically and in the themes covered with their songs. “Professor”, as the group's singer is also called, spoke to Surforeggae about plans for recording the first DVD. According to him, several proposals have already been made, but they want to take it slowly and do it in the best way possible. The intention is to record a DVD with scenes from performances in various locations, since, according to him, no Groundation show is the same. Every song played in a day has a large part of improvisation and it would be bad to capture just one show. According to him, Brasil is one of the candidate countries to appear in DVD. Without a doubt, the night was another one to remember for Groundation fans. If you haven't seen the band yet and it's about to come to or near your city, take some advice: DON'T PERCA!
