On June 23rd, a show was held in the gym on one of the busiest avenues in Belém, with the participation of DJs Alex Roots (Belém) and Rubinho Star (Fortaleza), as well as Radiola Princesa Negra (Belém) and the band Lunai (Belém). The place was also attended by different audiences: The crowd who enjoy electronic reggae and the masses who enjoy the famous "Pedras da Bolacha", the name given to Reggae Roots taken from vinyl. To witness the event, the gym had no less than 5,000 people, which for a university gym is excellent!
The stones started rolling around 10pm with the radio station Princesa Negra and the DJs taking turns, half roots, half electronic, to please everyone. Dawn has arrived, and the band Lunai enters the stage, rocking reggae classics such as "To Love Somebody", widely heard in Belém in the voice of Barbara Jones, and "Harambe", by the great Rita Marley.
After a lot of first class reggae, the most anticipated moment of the night arrives. Launching his newest album with new songs and re-recordings of classics that marked his career in Belém and São Luis, Eric Donaldson takes the stage to the delight of the regueira crowd from Pará that filled the hall and bleachers of the UEPA gym. Eric starts the show singing his biggest hits like: "I Need Someone", "Follow Me", "More Love", and "My Love". The explosion happened when he sang his 3 most heard songs by regueiros of all time: The engaging "Cinderella", "Jah Love" and the one that made the gym shake "No Slave". The Choir formed was uninterrupted and chilling. The people of Belém are to be congratulated for their receptivity, always leaving the guest artist feeling at home.
