The result of the union between Canadian Chris Murray and Brazilians at Firebug can be seen at Studio Showfree Live on Tuesday, 29, 2:00. Chris Murray was in the '90s serving King Aparattus, the greatest name in Canadian ska history. On one occasion, in his attacks south of the continent, the guitarist passed Venice Beach in sunny California, enjoyed the weather and stayed there. The new address coincided with the explosion of the third wave of the ska in the mid-90s. It was at this time that, with guitar in hand and a simple recorder, he surprised everyone. He knocked on the doors of Moon Records in New York and delivered the album "The 4-track adventures of Venice Shoreline Chris", the world's first "acoustic" album.
Here in Brazil, Radiola Records edited in 2006 "So Many Roads", a compilation of sixteen tracks with the best of its four albums. The album includes only one song recorded next to a full band. All the others have Murray on guitar, bass, drums and organ. The Canadian guitarist debuted on Brazilian stage in January 2006. On the occasion enchanted São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with its energy, well recorded on the DVD "Summer Night Sounds", released the following year.
On the other hand, the São Paulo Firebug group walks through almost every rhythm in Jamaica. It shows the hypnotic groove of ska, the rocksteady melody, the malevolence of reggae and the lysergy of dub. And it displays discrete touches of distant musical styles, such as surfing and country music. Formed by an American producer and a pair of Brazilians, Firebug is based on bassist and multi-instrumentalist Victor Rice, drummer Rodrigo Cerqueira (ex-Skuba) and guitarist/vocalist Felipe Machado. Rice, by the way, plays bass on the already classic record "Dub side of the moon" by Easy Stars All Stars, who recoded the legendary Pink Floyd album in reggae.
Firebug's latest album, "On The Move", reaches stores at the hands of the Deckdisc seal. On this Jamaican journey of Firebug through the tunnel of time, it is impossible not to draw attention to Hammond B-3's timbres, and several special appearances such as B Negão, Agent Jay, from the American band The Slackers and Buford O'Sullivan, leader of the Scofflaws, another very respected band on the American ska.
