Reggae loses another of its heroes: Joe Gibbs dies at 65! See on Surforeggae!

Joe Gibbs, one of the biggest producers that Jamaican music ever had left us on February 21, 2008, victim of a heart attack. Gibbs' first hit was "Love of the Common People" by Eric Donaldson, having also produced artists such as The Ethiopians, Delroy Wilson, The Heptones, Dennis Brown, Big Youth, BLack Uhuru, Jacob Miller, Mighty Diamonds, Gregory Isaacs, Prince Alla, Junior Byles, among others. Its greatest success was undoubtedly the album "Two Sevens Clash", which had international repercussions bringing Reggae closer to other styles like Rock. In addition to working with great musicians from the Sly & Robbie line, Ansell Collins, Tommy McCook, Aston and Carlton Barrett, Joe also worked with Errol Thompson Sound Engineer, one of the most acclaimed is almost Reggae. Joe Gibbs was 65 years old and was living on re-releases of his great productions made in the past through various stamps such as Jogib, Shock and Pressure Beat. The great producer can also be seen in the film "Rockers", where he plays selling records to Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace in a comical scene.
