The Guyanese and son of Jamaicans based in Bahia - Ricky Husbands, is participating in the recording of a CD and a DVD in tribute to the 50th anniversary of Dennis Brown, the Prince of Reggae. The project, which will be officially launched in April, will feature the participation of several artists besides Ricky, such as Sugar Minott, Everton Blender, Natty King, Richie Stephens, Ed Robinson and Chester Miller.
Ricky, who has lived in Salvador/BA for several years, is representing Brazilian and International Reggae very well. Together with his band, "Irie Positive", the artist has performed several shows throughout Brazil. The song chosen as a Tribute to Dennis Brown was the hit "Money in my pocket", a beautiful song by one of the greatest idols Jamaica has ever had, and who left us in 1999 shortly after Salvador came to us for an edition of Reggae Sunsplash. As soon as the producer responsible for the tribute received the CD with the recording made by Ricky, he received due congratulations for the originality "printed" in the music.
The DVD in honor of Brown will feature music videos from participating artists, with Ricky Husbands being recorded in the Historic Center of Salvador (Pelourinho), taking a little of our culture to the world. In addition to this news, Ricky is finishing the recording and editing of his first CD and DVD "Ao Vivo", which will be released in May by Agência Reggae, a company founded by him and Marcone Silva, producer and radio host. The work was recorded during the Salvador Carnival, in the middle of the party circuit, featuring its own songs and reinterpretations by renowned artists such as Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs and Stanley Beckford.
