Salvadorwill host a great reggae show on May 18th. The Jamaican bandThe Gladiators, one of the biggest, most respected and influential names in world reggae, will be in the capital of Bahia, more precisely atCasa de Shows Espetáculo(Sede de Praia do Esporte Clube Bahia). The band, which has a career spanning over 30 years, has served as an inspiration to many groups of the genre. The group's original leader,Albert Griffiths, shaped the legendary band - whose name was suggested to him on a bus by a traveler who had just seen the film"Ben Hur.". The concept of the men who fought for their freedom against Babylon immediately came to mind. Among the band's biggest hits are songs like"Roots Natty","Bongo Red","Look is Deceiving"and"Stick a Bush". Formed in 1968 byAlbert Griffiths, in partnership withDavid WebberandErrol Grandison,Gladiatorsprove on stage and in the studios that they continue to be one of the best reggae rock bands. In 2005, Griffiths announced his departure with the release of the album"Fathers and sons", in which he appeared playing alongside his children. The group is currently led byAnthonyon drums andAl Griffithson vocals, whose voice is indistinguishable from that of his father. On the tour, in addition toSalvador, the group performs in several other capitals. Surforeggae, in partnership withProdução do Evento, raffled off 30 tickets for the show through the website.
