A message of love and peace mixed with social concern and environmental awareness. This is the face of the reggae band that is rocking Salvador bars and concert houses: the Kayman. Inspired by the cadence of reggae music, the group, which was created in 2004 and composed of six members, assumes in 2008 a professional posture by seriously inserting itself in the music market of the city. The result of the work that musicians bring to the public is a sound with striking characteristics, of much originality, competence, musicality and balance.
The word Kayman has a sense linked to man's negative attitudes. Kay + man means "falling man", both in the influence of the Jamaican style, which causes the body to fall into the sound of reggae, as in the wrong and questionable attitudes of the current human being, increasingly capitalist and individualist. The goal is to suggest a reflection on mankind's current lifestyle. It is proposing to go against these negative attitudes. The name of the band also has to do with “kaya man” (ganja man).
Inspired by icons like Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Groundation, Katchafire, Black Uhuru, Nengo Vieira, Sine Calmon, Natiruts, among other bands, Kayman makes an interesting mix of rhythms resulting from the musical influences of its members. The sounds of Pink Floyd, Buena Vista Social Club, Santana, John Myung, Novos Bárbaros, Midnite and the Bahian electric trio Armandinho, Dodô and Osmar are some of the inspiring elements for the work of the entire team.
With the philosophy Rastafari as the guide of the work, Kayman reflects in its songs all political, economic and environmental engagement, always in search of the highest spiritual elevation as a means of inner knowledge and soul purification. Many and many stages of the capital and interior have been witness to what Kayman is capable of doing. To take full advantage just close your eyes and let the melodies penetrate into your thoughts and emotions...
