Jamaican Ranking Joe began his career in 1974 recording at Studio One - the most important studio in Reggae's history. At the time he was still a teenager but soon his fame spread due to his performances and improvisations on the large sound systems of Jamaica. This is how he was called by U-Roy to join the team of MCs on his sound system - Stur Guv. Over time, Ranking developed his own style of making quick rhymes, which earned him the nickname “Bionic Deejay”, influencing subsequent generations. In all these years of history he worked with the main producers and sound systems on the island until he founded his own sound team (Ray Simbolic Sound) and his own label with the selector Jah Screw. Together they were the first Jamaican sound system to tour at Europa. He recorded in partnership with big names such as Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Easy Star All Stars (Dub Side of the Moon), Mungo’s Hi Fi, Twilight Circus, among others. In 2008, the hit “Fyah Bun Dem“ was released, produced by Brazilians Digitaldubs, which became an anthem on the international Dub scene. Proof of this is the show that Ranking Joe and Digitaldubs did together this year at Ostroda Festival – one of the biggest at Europa. After many requests, Ranking is back at Brasil for another tour. Anyone who saw the master's first appearance in 2007 won't forget the class!
