Datas confirmadas! A lendária banda The Congos to performá in Brasil for primeira vez!
Directly from Jamaica (Kingston), Cedric Myton and company come to give what promises to be one of the most Roots shows seen at Brasil. The band The Congos is very revered in the country, and for years their presence in Brazilian lands has been requested or, without false exaggeration, BEGGED by millions of rhythm lovers. Now is the time to get emotional in front of this global reggae icon, who will close the global performance calendar with a flourish.

THE CONGOS

Created in 1976 by Cedric Constantine Myton and Roy "Ashanti" Johnson, who were later joined by Watty Burnett Lindberg "Preps" Lewis, “The Congos” are one of the most legendary Jamaican roots reggae bands. Cedric woke up to music early, at the age of sixteen his first single “Dance All Night”, recorded with his first band, “The Tartans”, occupied first place on the Jamaican music charts. Later, he recorded with “The Sons of Negus”, Ras Michael's band. After joining Lincoln Thompson, he formed “Royal Rasses”, also known as “Rass-es”, and recorded the album “Humanity” in 1975. In 1976, Cedric formed “The Congos” who, in the following year, with the collaboration of Lee Scratch Perry, recorded “Heart of the Congos”, an album that became one of the main references in the history of roots. reggae - one of the 20 best of all time, and considered by many to be the most brilliant of Perry's career. After the success of “Heart of the Congos”, the band separated, starting with Johnson, after the 2nd album (“Congo Ashanti”, 1979). Afterwards, Burnett left the band after the 3rd album, “Image of Africa” (1979). Cedric also made “Face The Music” in 1981, however the legacy of “Heart of the Congos” proved to be very heavy and none of the following albums enjoyed the same success. Until the mid-80s, Cedric continued to produce music with a number of other artists, but always maintaining the band's original name. In the mid-90s, after about fifteen years of separation, the band got back together with Lindburgh Lewis in place of Johnson. The album "Natty Dread Rise Again" (1997) marks his return, followed by a series of albums. The 2005 album “Give Them the Rights”, recorded in collaboration with artists such as “Sly and Robbie” and Earl "Chinna" Smith, recovers the roots spirit of the band's beginnings. Today, thirty-three years after “Heart of the Congos”, the group got together and comes to Brasil for the first time to share their love and music in several cities across the country, also promoting the new album, “Swinging Bridge”.
