EXCLUSIVE: Luciano headlines a true spectacle at Bob Marley Day in Buenos Aires!
Buenos Aires is one of the most privileged capitals in South America when it comes to international reggae shows. This time, the hermanos welcomed for the first time the great Jamaican star, considered today one of the biggest icons of contemporary Reggae - Luciano. Bob Marley Day, an event held in Buenos Aires for several years that has featured attractions like The Skatalites, Alpha Blondy, Gregory Isaacs and Yellowman, this time bet on the "homegrown talent", bringing the biggest names in national Reggae – Los Cafres and Dread Mar I, the also Latin Gondwana (Chile) and of course, as the main attraction, the "Jah Messenjah" (Messenger of Jah, as he is called in Jamaica) – Luciano. The Microestadio (gymnasium) of Argentinos Juniors was the venue for the great celebration – which, even under two days of heavy rain, welcomed thousands of fans, especially of Dread Mar I, the strongest attraction in Argentina today. As also happens in Brazil, local popular attractions play and the audience leaves without knowing what truly awaits them. The best show of the night was saved for last, and Luciano took the stage around 00:30 (the event started at 6pm). Delivering one of the most impressive shows ever seen by this writer, Luciano unleashed a devastating sequence of hits, focusing on the albums "Messenger", "Child of a King", "Serious Times" and the most recent "Jah Is My Navigator". Songs like "Give Praise", "Jah is My Navigator", "Jah Live", "Messenger", "Who Could it Be", "Over The Hills" and "This One is For The Leaders" moved all hearts present, despite the artist clearly not yet being known by the general Argentine public.
Luciano is a show in himself, and his performance cannot be compared to any other active Reggae artist. On stage the singer manages to do several backflips, then return to singing without losing breath or pitch. He interacts with the audience and with the beats of his music all the time, captivating and keeping everyone attentive throughout his entire performance. In his band, extremely competent musicians and a perfectly tuned backing vocal duo showed the true weight of Jamaican Reggae. It was without doubt one of the most beautiful and moving shows seen in Argentina in recent times. As a local radio host said – "Un dia para ficar en nuestra historia" (A day to go down in our history). Owner of one of the most beautiful voices in Reggae, and an extremely solid career of success in Europe and the United States, Luciano promises to be coming to South America soon for a tour. Extremely simple and kind, "Luci" even sent a shout-out to Surforeggae and all Brazilians present during the show. If you still don't know the work of this true icon of Jamaican music, hurry. Incredible melodies, extremely poetic and intelligent lyrics and his unmistakable voice make Luciano one of the most anticipated names in Brazil in recent times.
