The man who took the name of a small island to the seven corners of the world is about to receive the most important honorary decoration of Jamaica. Robert Nesta Marley, or Bob Marley, is expected to soon become a National Hero. This news was announced on what would have been Bob's 66th birthday by Minister of Culture Olivia "Babsy" Grange. In momento Bob Marley has Ordem ao Mérito Jamaicana, and is therefore referred to as Honorável Robert Nesta Marley, OM. The title until momento was only granted to seven people (six men and one woman), among them Marcus Mosiah Garvey, who fought for black emancipation and whose name can be heard in thousands of Jamaican rhythm songs that praised him.
