May 11, 2011: 30 years without Bob Marley, the greatest Third World idol!
In 30 years since Bob Marley's departure, Surforeggae not only remembers, but REINFORCENES the entire legacy left by the star. One of the main artists reggae has ever had, and certainly the one who most praised Jah's rhythm. Bob Marley was born in the small county of Nine Miles, in the state of St. Ann, in Jamaica, on February 6, 1945. The son of a white English military man and a black woman, Bob was raised without his father, who had abandoned him before he was even born. But it was in Trench Town's ghetto, where he later moved, that Bob began to make history. The hits, the Wailers, the controversies, the ideology... the message.

Bob Marley's image was strong, a stance that gathered fans all over the world, and still does to this day with unsuspecting people who listen to his work for the first time. It is practically impossible to ignore the richness of his compositions. The devastating start with "Catch a Fire", where the world that was taken over by Rock felt the immersive power of reggae, showed that the rhythm was much greater than its progenitor island. The eventful and fateful year of 76, where Hailé Selassié was murdered, was marked by the release of "Rastaman Vibration" and a militancy that in a certain way brought problems. Bob suffered a shooting attack at his home. He was shot in the arm, while Rita was grazed in the head. Bad on one hand, good on the other. Bob moves to Londres and gets to know the local movement, led by icons Steel Pulse, Aswad, among others. His music gains even more strength with tours throughout Europe, and the star even made a visit to Brazil, where he even played a ball with Chico Buarque. In 1980, Bob also released the album "Uprising", which includes the most beautiful and melodious song by Bob Marley: Redemption Song. Talvez, incidentally, the last one Bob composed. She talks about the cruel removal of slaves from Africa, and is a stimulus for Africans not to allow themselves to be dominated by the people of Babylon (Europeans).

Still in 1980, Bob faints during a show on Central Park, NY. The cancer spreads to the lungs, liver and brain. He checks into the Josef Issels clinic, at Áustria, for a naturist-based treatment, without positive results. Back at Miami and without his dreadlocks - lost in countless chemotherapy sessions - "Honorável" Robert Nesta Marley (the title he received from the Jamaican government on the day of his burial for his contribution to local culture) dies on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36.
