The solo album by José Rodrigues (Unidade Punho Forte) “A Vida é Assim”, produced by Pedro “Pedrada” Caetano, bassist of the band Ponto de Equilíbrio, was released this month on the Sound System Brazil label. Beautiful compositions are part of the new album, including the album's title track “A vida é assim” as well as “Tentando não deixar furo”, “Nayabinghi reggae” and “Mulheres”.
José Rodrigues is a Rastaman who composes, sings, plays guitar and bongos for young people, children, teenagers and adults at Brasil. José brought with him all the baggage of folklore and sounds from the north/northeast, but among them, one that was common to hear since he was a child on the radio in his home state: reggae... “aquele que tem a batida do coração, o nayambing”, explains the artist, who lives in São Gonçalo, but values the neighboring Niterói as being the city that recognized him musically, opening the doors for him to work.
In fact, as he is also a craftsman (he developed this gift with his grandfather, born in Ghana), while “mexendo” is not involved in music, it is common to see him selling his material at a stall on the Rua São Pedro boardwalk.
