UB40 members declare bankruptcy! Learn more!

Four members of UB40 have declared bankruptcy. Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Terence Oswald - known as Astro - and Norman Hassan may have their assets seized to pay debts. The case involves the failure of the band's record label and management company DEP International. In July, the quartet was warned that it would have to pay the costs of the lawsuit, which already reaches thousands of pounds.
At the time, they vowed to fight bankruptcy. "If bankruptcy proceedings are issued after this hearing today, the band will vigorously oppose them", said the spokesperson. The news comes after UB40 played a special show at the Hare and Hounds pub in King’s Heath, Birmingham, to celebrate receiving the Performing Rights Society plaque, which honored the group's first show at the same venue in 1978.
In 2008, frontman Ali Campbell left the band - which sold 70 million records - because of money disputes, and he was not invited to the show. "It is ironic that in the same week they celebrate their first show they declare bankruptcy, justifying Ali and Mickey Virtue's decision to leave UB40", said Ali Campbell's spokesperson.
"Ali did not receive an invitation to the show and therefore did not turn it down. He would like to have been invited, since that was where their journey began and Ali is proud that UB40's music was honored".
Robin Campbell - Ali's brother and one of the founding members - was also involved in the Birmingham court case, but was not declared bankrupt.
