Bob Marley's family filed a lawsuit against the singer's half-brother who was allegedly using his name to sell a series of products, from reggae shows to fish fillets. According to the website TMZ, Rita Marley and nine of his children sued Richard Booker, Bob's father's brother, for trademark infringement and unauthorized use of the reggae legend's image.
According to the lawsuit, Booker registered the brand “Mama Marley” to sell various fish, poultry, energy drink and alcohol products. He would also be using the singer's image and name to promote an annual festival in Miami called 9 Mile Music Festival - Nine Mile is the name of the village where Bob was born and buried, when he died of cancer, on May 11, 1981.
Marley's family claims that all rights to products linked to the singer belong to them and they want all revenue from Booker's business. Ironically, Stephen, Damian and Julian Marley, three of Bob's sons, are scheduled to play at next year's 9 mile festival.
