The world remembers and honors legend Dennis Brown, who would have turned 55 in February!

July 1, 1999 was marked by the loss of one of the biggest names in world reggae of all time, the great Dennis Brown. Dennis recorded his first single, the absolute hit "No Man Is an Island" at just 12 years old and for decades he was among the most celebrated artists in the field, even being nominated for a Grammy. Dennis, who passed away prematurely at the age of 42 from pneumonia, left an incredible legacy of hundreds of albums and countless classics that survive in the memories of his fans to this day. Dennis Brown was buried as a National Hero in Jamaica, as were Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and annually receives tributes worthy of the one who did so much for music and for his country. Among the tributes from around the world, the now traditional annual tribute to the "Crown Prince of Reggae Music" (as he was affectionately called in Jamaica) took place last Sunday (January 29) bringing together none other than Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, Julian Marley, Tarrus Riley, Tony Rebel, Half Pint, Junior Reid, George Nooks, Duane Stephenson, Prophecy, Iba Mahr, John Holt, Big Youth, Bongo Herman and many others. Dennis is apparently still very much alive and his music still resonates and inspires a lot of people.
