King's Day: Bob Marley would have turned 67 on February 6! Check the special on Surforeggae!
Bob Marley has taken Jamaica's name to every corner of the world, and is known as the leading militant voice of the third world. Today, February 6th, he would be 67 years old if he were alive. In 1945, a boy was born in Nine Miles, in Saint Ann (inland Jamaica) to an English father and a Jamaican mother. Due to English racial discrimination, the father, who was white, did not raise his black son. His mother, Cedella Booker, took in her son and raised him.

THE AWAKENING OF A LEADER

In a short time, Robert Nesta MArley was showing the world his talent and the value of his music, which went far beyond simply rhythm and poetry. Bob Marley's activism, his fight against social differences and especially his charisma that captivated crowds around the world, bothered important people who somehow had a great interest in the war, inequality and people's passivity continuing the way it was.

YOUR MUSIC

Something revolutionary happened with Bob Marley's music. People were questioning world problems and valuing that simple music, full of feelings and positive messages. Things evolved in such a commercial way that even the precariousness of propagating his music through the media, technology, etc., did not prevent the king of reggae from selling more than 10 million copies of the album "LEGEND", while renowned artists from other rhythms discreetly celebrated 2 million copies sold.

THE LEGACY

Today, Bob Marley is remembered as a great messiah, something that transcends the importance of a singer. Not surprisingly, every year countless festivals are held in his honor, often by his own children, who have kept Bob's flame alive all these years. The art of this enlightened being will echo throughout eternity, and many other generations will hear, feel and understand the magic of his music, and when that happens, Reggae will have conquered them forever.
